Wall Street Expressions

Wall Street Expressions Logo

The Museum of the Southwest and Wall Street Lofts and their developers are joining forces to commission an interchangeable mural at the pedestrian walkway between 120 N. Main Street and 100 N. Main Street in Midland, Texas.

Wall Street Expressions is a community project, involving both professional and student artists as contributors to the murals as well as local individuals and community organizations as part of the selection process.

Artists are encouraged to submit high quality images of original works of art in any medium. Artists warrant that artwork is unique or an edition of one or part of a limited edition and further warrant that work of art is not infringing on copyrighted materials. For this current round of submissions, the theme for the artworks is open.

All entries from both student and professional artists will be submitted to a jury process. The top five entries will be reproduced on high-quality vinyl and displayed on the wall in the public space located between Wall Street Lofts and Bourbon Street in Midland, Texas. At least one of the top three entries will be dedicated to a K-12 student, while the other entries may be either student or professional artists.

Adult artists (artists over the age of 18) who are part of the top entries will be able to display additional artwork at the opening reception for their installment of Wall Street Expressions. Artist information will also be kept in the lobby of the Wall Street Lofts and on participating websites for the duration of their installment. Adult artists will receive a cash prize in addition to the marketing opportunities listed above.

Student artists (artists 18 years old or younger) who are part of the top entries will receive a cash prize as well as a donation to their school’s art department. Student artists will be recognized at the opening reception for their installment of Wall Street Expressions.

Artwork will be changed yearly, with possibilities for submissions occurring year round.
