This workshop uses resources from the Museum of the Southwest to enhance writing programs in both the fine arts and general classrooms in grades K through 5. Learn how to engage students through warm-ups, games, activities and lessons that use works of art to enhance observational skills, vocabulary, word choice, and imagination. Workshop participants will creatively use poetry, expository writing, persuasive writing, and narrative writing to respond to works of art in the gallery spaces and will use the creation of art to visualize and analyze text.

Teacher In-Services

The Museum of the Southwest offers in-service training for K–12 teachers in addition to our Teach On! workshops. In-services are customized for each school and can include resources and features offered by the Museum of the Southwest, gallery visits, and hands-on activities. In-service workshops can be scheduled throughout the academic year, and must be scheduled at least one month in advance to allow for planning.
